Rather than asking you a question in this post, I want you asking a question. I want you to think about some of the subjects we have discussed in our unit in the prophets like judgment, hope, complacency, and the Day of the LORD (review your class notes on these subjects). As you review your notes, think about possible questions like why these events happened or what these events mean for us today or how these subjects connect to one another. Then, choose a question that interests you and post the question as a comment to this post. When you have posted your question, I want you to respond to one of the questions your classmates have asked on this post.
Here are a few examples of some possible questions:
- What does God's judgment in the prophets mean for us Christians today?
- Why did God judge his people so harshly?
- How can God be both a God of judgment and hope?
Don't be surprised if many questions cannot be satisfactorily answered - God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts!
Does God plan early to judge us because sometimes the bible makes it seem like he judges us last minute?
ReplyDeleteI think God already knew he would have to judge us (cause he knows everything)but i understand what you mean.
Deletei think that god has already planned to judge us because he knows all things. but maby he changes his mind
DeleteWhy did Israel and Judah both disregard the prophets warnings, and respond with complacent hearts?
ReplyDeleteI think that they disregarded the prophets because they had hardened hearts towards them and were sinful
DeleteDid the prophets realize exactly what they were foretelling (like Jesus' birth/life/death) or were they just repeating what God told them to say without deeper comprehension?
ReplyDeleteThey could of but everything God says is important in some way. The prophets probably knew that it was something important that was going to happen in the future concerning God/Jesus.
DeleteWhat happened to the prophets when the Israelites split into 12(was it?)tribes how did they decide which tribe to go to, Israel or Judah? Did they also have complaining hearts as well?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's from the original 12 brothers (Sons of Jacob). And they most likely would like to be in their own ancestor's tribe so it would not be a problem.
DeleteDid Israel ever get frustrated with the prophets because the prophets kept telling them what God said and God only talked through the prophets?
ReplyDeleteIf God hates sin then why is there sin in the world??? He can't create anything imperfect because he is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna paraphrase Einstein for this: Sin is really the absence of goodness or obedience, just like what we call 'cold' is the absence of heat or how 'dark' is the absence of light. Thus, God didn't really create sin, he created goodness and sin happens when we don't obey (aka the absence of obedience). Hope this isn't too confusing!
DeleteWhen Adam and Eve sinned, How come God didn't stop them if He knew sin would then enter the world? Did he want them to learn their lesson by giving them the guilt of their sin?
ReplyDeleteI think that god Wanted them to learn but at the same time, because he loves them, he wanted to keep them on the earth so they could get a chance to make it into heaven with him
DeleteMr. Marc talked about how God would completely undo the effects of the fall and we wouldn't remember any of the bad memories from earth, but I know that I personally have good memories from this earth. Will we forget our good memories, too?
ReplyDeleteeven if there are good memories of the world there are worldy things and if were with god thats the last thing we will be thinking about
DeleteI don't think so. I think that God would want us to retain our memories so in heaven we could tell our later generations about this.
DeleteIf god loves us then why do we suffer? And if He knows everything, Like the fact we will continuously sin Why does he continue to punish us With his judgment?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThat is a great question, but i think its because God gives us all free will. If he didnt let us sin, then we would never learn from our mistakes, and come back to him in repentance. We would have no reason for a God if there was no sin.
Deletewhy did god stop adam and eve and stop the fall before it evened happened?
ReplyDeleteIt was all part of His plan for the world is all I can say. Whatever the complete answer to your question may be shows that after the first sin happened, He loved us enough to save us from it. Hopefully in Heaven God will tell us why.
DeleteWhy in the Old Testament did God have a special tent that he dwelled and traveled in? He is omnipresent so why did He need it?
ReplyDeleteMaybe because if God revealed himself everywhere people would be blinded by his glory. That's why there was a special tent and even still in the tent was a curtain which prevented people from actually seeing him.
DeleteWhy does God allow us to do bad things. If he sees all, the future and past why does he allow us to commit sin?
ReplyDeleteGod doesn't like it when we do bad things, but when we do God wants us to ask for forgiveness for our sins and to know what we did was wrong. He doesn't necessarily allow us to do bad things, He punish us for our sin.
Deletewhy were Gods people more willing to serve a prophet rather than God?
ReplyDeleteI think this is because they could physically see the prophet and this gave them confidence to follow the prophet.
DeleteWhy did the Israelites rebel against God so many times? did they not get the message?
ReplyDeletei guess it's just because they are just like us and are sinful. i mean, we do the same thing too, don't we? like we'll sin (for example: get angry at someone) and we know what we did was wrong and we try to repent, but since we are sinful and not perfect we do the same sin (get mad at someone) again the next day
DeleteWhy will we forget everything that happened on this earth and not have any of our memories (bad or good) from our entire life on earth? Won't we want to remember and still have our memories?
ReplyDeleteWhat if somebody dies and never heard of the Gospel. Would he go to Heaven or Hell?
ReplyDeletei think they would go to hell because if they have never heard the gospel how are they going to know about heaven
DeleteI agree with what Paul says. Since they have no information about God they'd go to hell.
Deleteif god knows what we are going to do in the future why dosnt he stop us
ReplyDeleteI think he doesn't stop us because if he did, then we would all be perfect... And if everyone was perfect, then we would all be in Eden with no sin
DeleteI don't think he stops us because he wants to see who his true followers and believers are. He is basically testing us.
DeleteWhy does God let christian die?
ReplyDeleteWhy does God punish us but tell us he loves us?
ReplyDeleteWhy can't God just remove sin from the world to make it holy?
